Abstracts

Sometimes, it is refreshing to approach a painting without an image in my mind. I might choose a certain colour or tone of paper and a certain palette, but then I allow myself to go on a journey into the unknown. In my dark abstracts, I am 'playing' with the idea of shapes emerging out of the dark toned background. In others like my watercolour or ink abstracts, I am experimenting with the fluidity of the medium along with expressive mark-making. At times I relax with these methods and at other times it feels like I'm groping in the dark but the results are often quite interesting.
