This is a signed limited edition print of an original soft pastel painting by artist Michael Howley. The subject of the painting is a beautiful dark, brooding image of mist over Pendle as the sun sets to the right. The dominant form of the hill is coloured in blue-greys and grey-greens and the clouds above are dark indigo. The misty forest in the foreground is in low-key dark purple-grey. There is a contrasting warm glow on the right hand side lighting the edge of the clouds and tree tops. The whole atmosphere of the painting seems to reflect the dark history of Pendle Hill and the Pendle witches.
