Welcome to my Gallery of paintings and prints of northern landscapes, skyscapes, seascapes and moodscapes. I hope that you enjoy browsing through my art which is inspired by the beautiful (and often wild!) Pendle Hill area, the majestic Lake District, the Yorkshire coastline and the glorious Western Highlands of Scotland.

Many of my atmospheric paintings have been produced using soft pastels which allow me to gradually blend and build the layers with my fingers to recreate a sense of the subtle atmospheric depth of a landscape. The process is really quite contemplative.

Some of my skyscapes, I have approached in oil paints because I enjoy their buttery consistency and the use of expressive brushstrokes to create a sense of movement.  My ‘Moodscapes’ are inspired by landscape but painted from memory and imagination. These I often approach with watercolours, painting ‘wet into wet’, which is all about going with the flow and enjoying the elements of surprise and unpredictability!
